Tip. Use a different account for your family and friends because you will be unable to read all the Direct Messages sent to you when you have thousands of followers.
Note. The more followers you have means the more money advertiser will pay you to advertise on twitter.
Step 2. Log into your Twitter account and go to your settings to turn off the email notifications by checking them off.
a. If you do not turn off the email notifications you will get a notification every time someone follows you and sends you a direct message.
b. This will fill your email inbox up fast and is not necessary because you can always get your direct messages on your Twitter Home page by clicking on Direct Messages on the upper right side of the page.
c. To see who is following you just click on followers in the top right corner of the Twitter Home Page or the Profile page. The list will also show you if you are following them back.
Tip. Always follow a follower back because they may drop you if you do not follow them. Some Third Party software will atomaticaly drop you for this.
Step 3. Click on Find People at the top right of the Home Page. This will open a search page that you can Find People To Follow. The goal is to follow people that are most likely to follow you back.
a. Find followers by searching names of people or groups in the search bar, by clicking on Net Works and by clicking on suggested users. Just clicking on the follow button next to their profile photo to follow them.
b. Look for profiles that have a higher following number than followers because they are more likly to follow you back. So if somebody has 4,000 followers but only following 100 then they are most likely not to follow you back.
c. Don't follow agressively by keeping your following number close to your follower count because Twitter may temporarly band you to following others until your follower and following numbers are close together. They do this to help stop spamming.
